WakePoint is a GPS transit alarm. This page explains exactly what the app accesses, why, and — just as importantly — what it doesn't do.

The short version:

WakePoint reads your location only while an alarm you started is actively running, never sends that location anywhere, doesn't require an account, and doesn't use any analytics or advertising SDKs.

Location

WakePoint uses your device's GPS to compare your live position against the destination you set, so it can wake you as you approach. This only happens while a trip is running:

Location access starts when you tap "Start wake alarm" and stops the moment the alarm is dismissed, cancelled, or reset.
WakePoint never tracks your location in the background when no alarm is active.
On Android, an ongoing notification is shown any time location is being read, as required for background tracking — this is your visible confirmation that it's running.
On iOS, the same is true via the system's own background-location indicator.
Your location is processed entirely on your device. It is never transmitted to WakePoint's developer or any third party.

Maps

Destination search, the map picker, and address lookups use OpenStreetMap and your device's own geocoder — free, open services that don't require a paid API key or account. Map tile requests go directly from your device to the map provider to render the map you're looking at; WakePoint's developer does not see or log these requests.

What's stored, and where

Your saved destinations (Favourites and Recent), alarm settings, and preferences (units, theme, alarm tone, transport mode, and similar) are stored locally on your device only. Nothing is uploaded to a server or synced to an account, because WakePoint doesn't have one.

Notifications

WakePoint uses local, on-device notifications to show trip progress and to ring the alarm when you arrive. These are generated entirely on your phone and are not routed through any push-notification or analytics service.

What WakePoint does not do

No account or sign-up, so there's no personal profile to create or lose.
No analytics, advertising, or crash-reporting SDKs collecting usage data.
No selling or sharing of any data — there's no data collected centrally to sell.
No background location tracking outside of an active alarm.

Permissions

WakePoint requests: precise location (to run the alarm), notifications (to show trip progress and the wake alarm), and, only if you choose a custom alarm tone, access to pick an audio file from your device's storage. Each is used solely for the feature it enables.

Children's privacy

WakePoint is a general-audience utility app and does not knowingly collect data from anyone, including children, since it does not collect personal data in the first place.

Changes to this policy

If WakePoint's data practices ever change, this page will be updated and the "Last updated" date above will reflect it.
